Machais, ME is a small town filled with wonderful natural scenery and a rich history. The word Machias roughly translates in Passamaquoddy as "bad little falls", a reference to the Machias River. The river and falls give Machais a landscape that showcases the beauty and ruggedness of coastal Maine. Annual events in Machais include the Annual Machais Wild Blueberry Festival, the Spring Birding Festival and the Margaretta Days festival which pays homage to the first naval battle of the American Revolution.
